How To Make Hal Give Help With A Program In order for Hal to give help with a program, you must run the program through Hal.
After you run the program through Hal, if Hal says he is able to give help with it then
here's how:
You tell Hal to run a program called Winzip. When Hal runs it he will display the message
above. That means he has found a standard Windows help file for that program. Some
programs, even if they do have a help file, won't work because the program hides the help
file in places Hal does not search, like the Windows folder.
When you are working in the program, and you need help, simply click on Hal. When you
click on him he will display the message above. Enter your question and press enter. If you
don't have a question about the program, but you want to use Hal for something else you
must say "NO" to Hal, meaning you don't want help.
Once you enter your question to Hal, Hal will search the help file and show you an article
with the closest match to keywords Hal has automatically extracted from your sentence. If
there are more than one article with a match a window will pop up asking you to choose
an article. If no immediate matches were found then Hal will enter your keywords to the
help files index so that you can browse the index easily.
